Description:
Candidates will be expected to float throughout the assigned zone.
The float pool includes multiple units ranging from General Medical-Surgical to various specialties.
Patient ratios will typically be 1:5-6 based on acuity.
Nurses are required to have BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
Common patient populations include adults and geriatrics with diagnoses in Cardiac, Neuro, Ortho, Oncology, and more.
Charge nurses may not take a patient assignment unless absolutely necessary.
There are designated charge nurses on each unit.
Nurse aids are available to support nursing staff.
Required equipment includes RT equipment such as vents, CPAP, and BiPAP.
Schedules are created by leadership for six weeks at a time.
Flexibility is required, and travelers are expected to fill gaps in permanent scheduling.
Weekend requirements include 6-9 shifts within a six-week schedule.
Holiday requirements may involve participation in a rotation.
Call or standby requirements are rare, typically due to low census.
Floating to other acuity levels may be required based on patient needs.
Charting is done using an electronic system.
This position does not require a BSN.
