Description:
Unit 7N is a Cardiac/Telemetry stepdown unit with 29 beds.
Nurse to patient ratios are 1:5-6.
Common diagnoses include cardiac patients, post-cath patients, AMI, post-operative lung surgeries, respiratory failure, and chest tubes.
RNs must be able to titrate drips such as Heparin, Insulin, Nitroglycerin, and cardiac drips like Amiodarone and Dobutamine.
There is a charge nurse available 24/7.
During the day shift, the charge nurse does not take patients; however, at night, they do take patients.
CNA staffing is to ideally have 1 CNA for every 12 patients, with typically 3 on days and 2 on nights.
Respiratory Therapy is available for managing CPAP and BiPAP; nurses are not expected to manage respiratory equipment independently.
Telemetry monitoring is done using Phillips monitors, and RNs are required to read and interpret strips.
Shifts are 12 hours long and scheduled from 7 AM to 7 PM.
Weekend requirements include working every other weekend.
Travelers are included in the holiday rotation with permanent staff.
Travelers may be required to float to other units as needed.
Scrub colors are royal blue for RNs.
