Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: RN must be able to titrate drips Description: Unit is a Cardiac/Telemetry Stepdown unit with 29 beds. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5-6. Common diagnoses include cardiac patients, post-cath care, acute myocardial infarction, post-operative lung surgeries, respiratory failure, and chest tube management. RNs must have experience with titrating drips including but not limited to Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Dopamine, Integrilin, Heparin, Ativan, Lasix, and Nitro. Charge nurse is available 24/7; however, the charge nurse on nights does take a patient assignment. CNA support is available with an ideal ratio of 1 CNA for every 12 patients, typically having 3 on days and 2 on nights. Respiratory therapy manages CPAP and BiPap equipment; nurses are not expected to manage respiratory treatments. Telemetry monitors are Phillips, and RNs are required to read and interpret strips. Shifts are from 7 PM to 7 AM with a weekend requirement of every other weekend. Travelers are included in the holiday rotation schedule. Staff may float to MedSurg/Telemetry as necessary. Dress code is royal blue scrubs for RNs. Unique features of the unit include providing care for a diverse range of cardiac and respiratory patients.
