Oncology experience is preferred but not required. The nurse will float to various Medical-Surgical units as needed. It is essential to ensure staff safety in a secure corrections unit environment. The unit operates under specific protocols and patient care standards. Shifts will vary based on unit requirements and departmental needs. The nurse will work with a patient population including those with active oncology diagnoses, as well as other medical conditions. Patient ratios include 1:3 in the progressive care unit and 1:4-5 in the medical-surgical unit. The nursing staff will collaborate with a range of interdisciplinary support teams. Key responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, IV therapy, and medication management among others. The nurse will be responsible for interpreting and managing dysrhythmias, administering blood products, and managing feeding tubes. Candidates must meet experience requirements within the last three years. Unit is for adult and geriatric patients, handling a variety of complex diagnoses. The ability to work in a corrections unit will be necessary, highlighting security protocols and procedures. Completion of necessary credentialing requirements is essential for the role.
