Description:
The Registered Nurse will care for patients in a medical oncology unit.
Experience in oncology is preferred but not required.
The staffing ratio goal is 1:4; however, it may occasionally be 1:5.
Weekend shifts will be variable based on unit needs.
There will be no set or blocked scheduling offered.
Floating to other medical surgical oncology units is required.
The unit treats adult and geriatric patients.
Common patient diagnoses include various subtypes of breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers.
The Registered Nurse will provide care throughout the cancer journey, from diagnosis through treatment and end-of-life care.
There is a strong focus on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention.
The unit addresses both oncology and medical surgical issues.
Telemetry skills are essential, including interpretation and monitoring.
The use of computerized charting is expected.
Previous travel experience in nursing is preferred.
Candidates must have acute care experience that is current.
Candidates may be required to complete fingerprinting as part of the compliance process.
References are required from previous managers or supervisors.
Education must be from an accredited program.
All candidates must meet compliance deadlines for submission.
Travelers from outside the state must be prepared to travel for required processing.
