Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical Oncology Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day and Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years inpatient nursing experience required License: Valid state license in hand at time of submission Certifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required Must-Have: - Oncology experience preferred, but not required - Ability to float within units of equivalent or lower level of acuity Description: Mixed acuity unit caring for medical oncology patients. This unit has approximately 24 beds for acute care and 24 beds for medical surgical telemetry. Staffing ratios aim for 1:4-5 but may vary based on unit needs. The patient population consists of high acuity individuals with various diagnoses, including solid tumors and some blood cancers. Chemotherapy competence is not required, but training opportunities are available. Pediatric patients may be cared for on this unit, but they are extremely rare and will likely be managed by permanent staff. There is a heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention. The unit uses a GE telemetry monitoring system, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and PCA pumps. Previous travel experience is preferred. Candidates must be responsive and cooperative with credentialing processes. Two professional references are required, with at least one being from a supervisory or leadership position. Candidates should have current and consistent acute care experience in the specialty for which they are applying.
