Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 19:00 - 07:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: RN License Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Med/Surg skillset with head-to-toe assessment. Knowledge of orthopedic care. IV medication administration, including management of Lasix and heparin drips, IVP metoprolol, diltiazem, and insulin (IV or subcutaneous). Wound care, including drain management and vacs. NGT/G tube care and parenteral nutrition. Central line management, including PICC, HD catheter, and midlines. Foley, nephrostomy, and suprapubic catheter care. Ostomy care. Postoperative patient care. Description: This position is for a registered nurse specializing in telemetry. The unit has a total of 48 beds with an average patient census of 27. Patient ratios are 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night. There is one unit secretary available from 7 AM to 11 PM. Patient care technicians (PCT) are assigned at a ratio of 1:10-15, with a matrix typically calling for three on a shift. Occasional 1:1 coverage with a PCT or patient safety technician may be required. The unit is equipped with Hoyer lifts, automated blood pressure machines, bladder scanners, remote telemetry monitoring, and vein finders. Documentation is managed through a specific system. Staff scheduling requires working every other weekend, with a preference for 12-hour shifts. The float policy includes floating to similar medical-surgical telemetry units. Daily multidisciplinary rounds occur on day shifts from Monday to Friday at 10:30 AM. Candidates must collaborate with the team to promote excellence in patient care. A great team atmosphere, monthly meetings for staff engagement, and high employee retention rates are highlights of the work environment. New equipment, including advanced blood pressure machines, enhances the unit's capabilities. Experience with specific healthcare knowledge is a plus.
