Must-Have:
Med/Surg skillset including head-to-toe assessment.
Orthopedic care knowledge.
IV medication administration including management of Lasix drip, heparin drip, IV push metoprolol, diltiazem, and insulin IV or subcutaneous.
Wound care including drain management and VAC therapy.
NGT/G tube care and parenteral nutrition.
Central line management including PICC, hemodialysis catheter, and midlines.
Foley, nephrostomy, and suprapubic catheter care.
Ostomy care.
Postoperative patient care.
Description:
This unit has 48 beds with an average census of 27.
Patient ratios are 1:5 during days and 1:6 during nights.
Staffing includes 1 unit secretary from 07:00 to 23:00 and a PCT ratio of 1:10-15, with 3 typically working per shift.
Occasional 1:1 coverage with a PCT or patient safety tech may be required.
Equipment used includes Hoyer lifts, automated blood pressure machines, bladder scanners, remote telemetry monitoring, and vein finders.
Documentation is managed through a specific system.
The schedule requires every other weekend availability for 12-hour shifts.
Floating policy includes floating to like units first before utilizing float pool or travelers.
Participation in daily multidisciplinary rounds is required on weekdays from 10:30 to 11:15.
The ideal candidate will work with the team to promote patient care excellence.
Additional skills and responsibilities may include the use of new equipment and technology.
