Job Title: MS/Tele Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (6:30 PM - 7:00 AM) Experience: Minimum of 3 years required License: Active state license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS required; NIH preferred Must-Have: - MS/Tele and telemetry experience - Required cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills - Manage IV insulin protocols and titration of insulin drips - Experience with renal failure patients - Accessing ports and administering blood products - Manage central lines and peripheral lines - Experience with total joint replacements - Manage external CPAP/BIPAP and high-flow nasal cannula - Experience with wound care and wound vac Description: The position involves working in a medical surgical/telemetry unit. The average daily census is 19 patients. The unit has 30 beds. The nurse is expected to work every other weekend. The role requires interpretation of dysrhythmias and management of dysrhythmias. Telemetry monitoring on the unit will be needed. Experience with rapid response teams is essential. Feeding tube care and management experience is required. Skills in accessing ports, initiating and managing IVs, and administering blood products are necessary. Management of heparin protocols and titrating vasoactive drips is expected. The nurse will work with patients undergoing total joint replacements and manage respiratory care, including tracheostomy management. Isolation precautions and wound care skills are required. Experience in a community hospital is preferred. Patient age groups include adults and geriatrics. The primary patient diagnoses include CHF, COPD, UTI, pneumonia, cellulitis, pancreatitis, pyelonephritis, and fractures. The unit provides interdisciplinary support from various services. Special procedures performed on the unit may include wound vacs and long-term IV antibiotic management. The nurse is expected to float within their skill level if there is low census. Candidates must be committed to completing compliance requirements promptly.
