Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years of experience. This role involves care for adults and geriatrics with acute medical needs. Common patient conditions include congestive heart failure, infections, cardiac catheterization, pacemaker implantation, pneumonia, strokes, transient ischemic attacks, seizures, urinary tract infections, and more. Post-care will include monitoring and managing patients following pacemaker and cardiac catheterization procedures. The nurse will perform a variety of post-care procedures, including thoracentesis, chest tube insertion and management, and administration of cardiac and heparin drips. Experience with patient care related to peritoneal dialysis is also required. The nurse will manage patients on telemetry and administer various treatments including blood product administration. Skills in accessing and managing ports, central line care, and feeding tube management are essential. Additional responsibilities include monitoring for dysrhythmias, managing cardiac drips (non-titration), and starting and maintaining IV access. The nurse will also provide wound care and collaborate with interprofessional teams, including IV teams, physical therapy, and pharmacy services. The unit maintains a census of 24 patients, with a 5:1 patient ratio during day and night shifts. Daily responsibilities will include comprehensive patient assessments and documentation using electronic health records.
