Job Title: Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring RN Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hours Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: Level 1 trauma experience Strong critical thinking and assessment skills Ability to detect small changes in patients Description: This position is focused on providing quality care in a Neuro Acute Epilepsy Monitoring setting. The unit consists of 48 total beds, which includes 10 specialty rooms for epilepsy. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 during both day and night shifts. Charge nurses are present without patient assignments, along with resource nurses. Patient care technicians are available on the floor, providing support during shifts. Self-scheduling is available for the required weekend shifts. Nurses will participate in a thorough orientation process on the floor. Common diagnoses for patients include epilepsy, brain tumors, and traumatic brain injuries. Critical skills in maintaining sterile fields are essential for this role. Experience in both MedSurg and telemetry is required. Strong competencies in assessments and patient monitoring are necessary. Nurses will have access to resources such as respiratory therapy and IV services. Knowledge in managing patients with ventilatory support is beneficial. The hospital emphasizes education regarding specific equipment and policies relevant to patient care. Flexibility to float to different units may be expected as part of the role. Holidays are included in the work rotation, ensuring unit coverage throughout the year. Scrub colors required for the position are designated by the unit.
