Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1 year of recent experience required License: New York RN License required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Mandatory competency with phlebotomy. Competency in placing IVs. Experience with interpretation of dysrhythmias. Ability to manage dysrhythmias. Experience with use of Rapid Response Teams. Skilled in peripheral line care/management. Ability to provide nasal cannula and oxygen administration. Familiarity with portable oxygen tanks and non-invasive airway management. Knowledge of isolation precautions. Description: Registered Nurses will care for patients with cardiac and stroke diagnoses. Mandatory competency with phlebotomy and IV placement is a requirement. Patient ratios during the day and evening are 5 to 1, stretching to 6-7. Night ratios are expected to be 6-7 to 1, stretching to 8-10 if staff calls in. Patient Care Technicians are available on all units to assist with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living. RNs must float within scope to meet facility needs across similar units, including Medical-Surgical, Intensive Care Unit, and Emergency Department. All travelers are required to have experience with computerized documentation, preferably in Epic. Special equipment used includes hoyer lifts. The unit has interdisciplinary support from IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and others. Successful candidates must adhere to all patient care protocols and maintain a high standard of clinical practice.
