The nurse will care for patients with various cardiac conditions, including chest pain, coronary artery disease, diabetes, peripheral vascular disease, and more. Patient care will include rhythm management and administration of cardiac drips. The unit conducts pre and post angiograms and other surgical procedures but does not perform sheath pulls. A strong understanding of dysrhythmias and telemetry monitoring is essential. The staffing ratio is approximately 6 patients per nurse. Interdisciplinary support is available from various departments, including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. The nurse may be assigned to an emergency team and may need to stay at the facility until after the event passes. By accepting the position, the nurse agrees to report as assigned during emergencies. The unit provides an environment where nurses can enhance their skills in telemetry and acute care.
