Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of acute care experience required License: Compact or State Licensure required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS preferred Must-Have: Telemetry experience Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias Description: Please ensure the traveler is aware of the following: Upon accepting an assignment and starting your role, your unit manager may assign you to an "Emergency Team." There will be an expectation to stay at the facility until after the event passes or be part of the relief team. Specific details pertaining to pay will be relayed for each emergency event, as impacts vary. By signing your contract to take a position, you accept the above and will report as assigned by your immediate unit manager if an emergency event occurs. You should not apply for this role if you are not comfortable with the above. Patient population includes individuals with: Chest pain, CAD, DM, PVD, COPD exacerbation, COVID+, TIA, stroke, hypertension, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, bradycardia, tachycardia. Duties may include managing rhythm with cardiac drips that are not titrated for blood pressure. Special procedures involve pre and post angiogram/angioplasty—no sheath pulls, PPM/AICD, LINQ recorder, and general surgical procedures. This includes EGD, colonoscopy, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, wound debridement, chest tube insertions, central line catheter insertion, thoracentesis, and paracentesis. Special equipment used includes telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, and wound vacs. Refer to required skills, including blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care, chest tube management, and interpretation of dysrhythmias. Experience with IV insulin protocols, management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (not titrated), oxygen administration, and telemetry is also required. Patient ratios during night shifts are typically 6:1. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and unit secretary assistance. Resources who worked as permanent staff must be separated from previous employment for a full year before they can return as travelers.
