The role involves providing support in an inpatient holding area. Patients will be located within the emergency department. They may require care for various medical/surgical adult diagnoses. Nurses may encounter PCU level patients. Travelers are expected to float to different areas as needed. The patient ratios are targeted at 1:6 for MS/Tele. A weekend commitment is required every other weekend. Contract staff may be called to work during emergencies or disasters. Candidates must be comfortable floating to various units based on patient needs. The working environment is fast-paced with high-acuity patients. Standard medical equipment such as cardiac monitors and IV pumps will be used. Collaboration with interdisciplinary support teams will be essential. All candidates will undergo EKG testing prior to the start. References are preferred from previous supervisors. Traveler experience is not required, but candidates should have a strong skill set.
