Radius rule: Traveler s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit
Unit Information:
o Beds: 34
Average Census: 32
o Minimum Years of Experience required? 18 months of Med/Tele RN exp
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Yes
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o Med/Tele Surgical: ESRD, CHF, Pneumonia, Sickle Cell Crisis, Diabetes/DKA, Wounds, Acute/Chronic Renal Failure, etc.
Patient Ratios:
o RN: Days: 1:5; Nights: 1:6 (critical surge 1:7-8)
o CNA: Days 1:12; Nights 1:12
Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:
o RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
o CNA: BLS
Skills required:
o RN: Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating Cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), general medical/surgical skillset – care of patients with tubes/drains, IV start skills, blood products, wound care/dressing changes, etc.
o CNA: acute care MedSurg experience; experience with lift equipment - Hoyer
Support within the Department:
o CNA (Ratios – 1:12) – patient care (ADLs/Vitals/Nutrition) and mobility
o Receptionist/HUC, 24/7 – able to validate EKGs
o Charge nurse
o Phlebotomy, 24/7
o IV/VAT Team, 24/7
o Pharmacist dedicated to unit
o Case Manager x 2 per unit
o MedSurg Clinical Nurse Specialist
o RT 24/7 – will perform Nebulizer treatments
o Nurse Educator
o Hospitalist, 24/7
o Telemetry monitoring/tech? Yes
Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: EPIC
o IV Pump: Alaris
o Med dispensing: Omnicell
o Monitors: Phillips
o Rover Communication
o Hoyer lift
Floating:
o Within region and scope of practice
o Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
Region 2 - Pineville, Anson, Union, Union West, Central Division (CMC Main CMC Mercy Levine Children s Hospital)
If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)
