Unit does not accept first-time travelers.
Skills in IV start, telemetry, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and management of dysrhythmias are required.
Experience with Med/Surg neuro patients is a must.
Description:
This position requires a Registered Nurse for the Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit.
The unit cares primarily for stroke patients, along with other neuro diagnoses such as epilepsy and subdural hematomas.
Ratios on the unit are 1:6.
Travelers are required to work every other weekend. Floating within medical-surgical areas may be necessary.
The candidate must demonstrate proficiency in managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, interpreting and managing dysrhythmias, and provide care for various neurosurgical patients.
Must be prepared to handle additional patient care procedures and work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
The unit trains nurses for an Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, although this training typically does not impact travelers unless they are specially trained.
Floating may be required to areas including, but not limited to, COVID care units.
Travelers are expected to fulfill all scheduled shifts, and any call-offs may need to be made up based on unit needs.
The unit operates with a daily census of approximately 50 patients.
All candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting.
