Unit Information

  • Beds: 10
  • Average Census: 8
  • Minimum Experience Required: 2 years MedSurg/Telemetry
  • First-Time Traveler Accepted: Depending on experience

  • Renal/Pancreatic Transplant Donors & Recipients
  • Gynecological Oncology
  • Surgical Oncology
  • Urology
  • Colorectal Surgery
  • Bariatric/Minimally Invasive Surgery

Patient Ratios

  • RN: 1:4–5
  • CNA: 1:10

Required Licensure & Certifications

  • BLS

    • Rituxan
    • Thymoglobulin
    • Neostigmine

Support Within the Department

CNA Support

  • Staffing: 1 CNA per shift
  • Assists with:
    • Direct & indirect patient care
    • Vital signs
    • Procedures
    • Ambulation & ADLs
    • Maintaining a safe environment
    • Communication

Unit Secretary / HUC

  • Adjacent Day Hospital Unit Secretary:
    • Answers call bells
    • Communicates with staff
    • Orders supplies

Charge Nurse

  • Day Shift: 2 designated Charge RNs
  • Night Shift: No designated Charge RN; experienced resource nurses available

Additional Support

  • Some phlebotomy blood draws
  • RNs perform STAT and timed lab draws
  • No dedicated IV/VAT Team
  • Several RNs trained in ultrasound-guided IV placement
  • RT available 24/7
  • Physicians (Attendings, Residents, APPs) available
  • Telemetry monitoring available

Technology & Equipment

  • EMR: Epic
  • IV Pump: Alaris
  • Medication Dispensing: Omnicell
  • Monitors: Philips
  • Unit-Specific Equipment: ON-Q Pumps
