Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med/Surg/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year in the specialty required License: Active RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: Minimum of 1 year of EPIC experience required Description: Shift: 18:45-07:15 with 3x12 weekend coverage every other weekend. Floating is required, and may be floated to other units based on need and skill set. Nurse to patient staffing ratio is 1:6 on nights. Patient age groups include adults and geriatrics. Medication system utilized is Omnicell. Unit primarily focuses on stroke and TIA patients, along with higher acuity med-surg patients. Emphasis on patient experience is a priority on this unit. Special procedures include peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation. Additional patient diagnoses include stroke, TIA, seizure, syncope, pneumonia, chest pain, dialysis, acute kidney failure, post heart catheterization, respiratory failure, encephalopathy, congestive heart failure, and sepsis. Required competencies encompass managing various medical devices and procedures such as access and management of ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line blood draw, chest tube management, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, high flow nasal cannula, insulin administration, remote telemetry monitoring, and wound care. Nurses should have experience with cardiac drips, isolation precautions, and rapid response teams. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy. This position requires adherence to floating protocols and the completion of essential modules before starting the role. Nurses will be eligible for reimbursement for time spent completing necessary modules. A minimum six-month separation is required for travelers wishing to return after three consecutive contracts. Compliance with float requirements across units based on census concerns is essential. Travelers must possess a minimum of one year of recent experience in the unit.
