Primary Purpose

The Registered Nurse Resource Team provides comprehensive nursing care through skillful assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with facility or department policies, procedures, and/or protocols under the supervision of the nursing leader. The RN Clinical Nurse/RT assists in maintaining a safe work environment and performs all related job responsibilities in a safe manner. The Registered Nurse Resource Team maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the population of patients served.

Must be available to provide nursing services in all patient care areas of expertise and knowledge, at all elected facilities.

A registered nurse's practice is guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.




Major Responsibilities
  • Collects pertinent data and information relative to the healthcare consumer's health or the situation.
  • Analyzes the assessment data to determine the actual or potential diagnoses, problem, and issues.
  • Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the healthcare consumer or the situation.

    About Facility:

    • 874 Licensed beds
    • Level I Trauma
    • Teaching Hospital
    • Chest Pain Center
    • Stroke Center
    • Magnet Designated
    • Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit

    Unit Information:

    • Beds: 36
    • Minimum Years of Experience required? 2 years Med/Tele RN exp (Resource Team)
    • Will you accept a first-time traveler? Not preferred but will consider (Resource Team)

    Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

    • Bladder CA, prostatectomy, kidney stones, renal CA, patient requiring fluid resuscitation/blood products, TURBT
    • ESLD, peritoneal dialysis, GI Disorders and infections, Liver Failure, AKI/CKD, pre & post operative kidney/liver/pancreas transplant, acute rejection
    • Surgical Trauma-Chest tubes, SCI, GSW, MVA, traumatic falls w/injury

    Patient Ratios:

    • RN: 1:4-6

    Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:

    • BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement)

    Skills required:

    • General Med/Tele skillset: Stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc), PCA pumps
    • Medication gtt management to include: Cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF

    Support within the Department:

    • CNA ratios vary
    • Receptionist/HUC
    • Charge nurse, 24/7 may or may not have patients
    • Phlebotomy peripheral blood draws only
    • IV/VAT Team
    • Resource Nurse as available

    • Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
    • RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
