Description: This facility is a Level I Trauma and Teaching Hospital with 874 licensed beds. It is recognized as a Magnet designated facility. The unit consists of 36 beds accommodating patients with various medical and surgical conditions. Patient types include bladder cancer, prostatectomy, kidney stones, renal cancer, and patients requiring fluid resuscitation or blood products. Common diagnoses include end-stage liver disease, peritoneal dialysis, GI disorders, liver failure, acute kidney injury, and chronic kidney disease. Pre- and post-operative care for kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant patients is also provided, including management of acute rejection cases. The nursing staff maintains patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:6, with the potential for a surge staffing increase to ratios of 1:7 to 1:8. CNA ratios can vary, with 1 CNA for every 9 to 12 patients. Support within the department includes charge nurses, respiratory therapists available 24/7, and hospitalists and intensivists also available around the clock. Telemetry monitoring will be conducted by the nursing staff, as no designated monitoring techs are available. Travelers may float within a designated region and scope of practice, with necessary adjustments to contracts depending on facility needs. Weekend rotations will occur every other weekend, with holiday expectations set at 75% of holidays worked. The facility uses EMR systems, IV pumps, and medication dispensing systems to ensure efficient patient care. Scrub color is navy.
