Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Medical Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Hours (1900-0700) Experience: Minimum 18 months Med/Tele RN License: Active Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Stroke experience - Cardiac rhythm interpretation - Trach care - Peripheral IV starts - Chest tube management - Nasogastric tube placement - Drain and tube management (including Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion and management) - PCA pump management - Medication drip management, including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IV fluids Description: The position is for a Registered Nurse specializing in Medical Surgical/Telemetry. The facility has 207 licensed beds and focuses on various patient types. Patients may include those undergoing bariatric weight loss surgery, urology procedures, and general post-operative care. Common diagnoses also include abdominal surgeries, gastrointestinal bleeds, and small bowel obstructions. The nurse-patient ratio is typically 1:5-6, with a critical surge ratio of 1:7-8. Support staff includes CNAs and phlebotomy technicians. Telemetry monitoring is available on the unit. The technology in use includes electronic medical records and various monitoring equipment. Nurses may be required to float to other units as needed based on staffing needs. Weekend rotations are expected every other weekend. Travelers may be required to work 75% of holidays. Requests for time off (RTO) can be approved for up to six days, excluding holidays. Candidates should be prepared for a schedule cycle of every six weeks. Scrub color for this position is navy.
