Job Title: Registered Nurse - MedSurg/Tele Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 18 months Med/Tele RN experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Basic Med/Tele skillset including cardiac rhythm interpretation - Experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone) - Wound care - Drain/tube management - PIV starts - Central line management Description: This position is for a MedSurg/Tele RN. The facility is a licensed bed hospital with Level 3 Trauma designation. It is also a certified chest pain center and stroke center. The unit has a capacity of 32 beds. The average daily patient census is around 32. Patient types commonly include stroke, respiratory illnesses such as flu, pneumonia, and COVID, renal failure, peritoneal dialysis, wounds, etc. Patient ratios are typically 1:5-6, with surge staffing ratios possibly reaching 1:7-8. LPNs, if applicable, will have similar staffing ratios. CNAs will have a ratio of 1:10. Support within the department includes CNAs for activities of daily living, mobility, and feeding. Charge nurses may or may not have patient assignments. Phlebotomy services are available, as well as an IV/VAT team and 24/7 respiratory therapy. Hospitalists and intensivists are also available around the clock. Telemetry monitoring and tech support are part of the unit. Technology used includes an EMR system, IV pumps, medication dispensing systems, and patient monitors. The unit has specific equipment for virtual nursing, allowing for enhanced patient monitoring and support for admissions and discharges. Floating may be required within the region and scope of practice. Travelers will be expected to float as needed to different facilities within the region. If floating mid-shift, the traveler will be compensated for travel time between facilities. Holiday expectations include working 75% of recognized holidays. Travelers can request time off, and requests for up to 6 days off may be approved, excluding holidays. The schedule cycle runs every 6 weeks, with weekend rotations occurring every other weekend. Shifts are typically 0630-1900 and 1830-0700. The unit culture promotes collaboration, patient-centered care, and a fun-loving environment.
