Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience required License: Active RN license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS required Must-Have: Previous charge experience required. 1 year of experience with EPIC EMR required. Must have travel experience. Description: This is a night shift nursing position. The nurse will work three 12-hour shifts. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. Floating to other units may be necessary based on staffing needs and skill set. The staffing ratio during the night shift is 1 nurse to 6 patients. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics. The unit primarily cares for patients with stroke and TIA diagnoses. Higher acuity medical-surgical patients are also admitted. The focus of care is highly directed toward patient experience. Special procedures performed in this unit include peritoneal dialysis and continuous bladder irrigation. The nurse must be proficient in managing patients with various diagnoses, including stroke, seizure, pneumonia, chest pain, and respiratory failure. Knowledge in administering and managing medications, including insulin and blood products, is essential. The unit provides support from interdisciplinary teams, including physical therapy and respiratory services. The daily patient census averages 27 patients. The unit consists of 30 beds. Nursing duties will include telemetry monitoring and managing ventilator settings when required. Documentation is completed using the EPIC charting system. The nurse should be capable of performing wound care and managing intravenous therapy. Isolation precautions, response to rapid response codes, and a commitment to maintaining safety protocols are essential responsibilities.
