Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 1 year experience required License: Required licensure Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: PCA skills, surgical drain care, wound care experience, telemetry cardiac rhythm interpretation, comfortable learning Cardizem/Amiodarone gtt Description: We are seeking an experienced RN for a MedSurg/Tele position. The facility is a Level 1 Trauma Designation teaching hospital. The unit offers 8 beds with a patient average of 8 per day. Patient types include General Medical, Cardiac cases, Pneumonia, UTI, Chest Pain, and fluid overload. The RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4 and CNA-to-RN ratio is 1:8. The CNA will support by obtaining vital signs and blood glucose checks, and assisting with daily activities. Charge nurses may have a full assignment occasionally but primarily float. Phlebotomy services are available for peripheral blood draws. IVs will be started by the nursing team. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7 and requires paging for assistance. Both Clientist and Intensivist services are available 24/7. Telemetry monitoring is on the unit, and RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting strips during shifts. The Electronic Medical Record system used is Epic. The IV Pump is Alaris, and medication dispensing is done via Omnicell. Unit-specific equipment includes PCAs, trachs, and complex wound care supplies. Floating to any adult unit is expected based on competencies. The unit culture is friendly and promotes an academic environment.
