Job Title: RN - MedSurg/Tele Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: MedSurg/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years Med/Tele RN experience required License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS required; ACLS preferred; Basic Cardiac Rhythm required Must-Have: Strong clinical assessment and med-surg nursing skills Must be able to manage tracheostomy and chest tube care. Must have experience with IV insertion and central line management. Must be able to coordinate care with an interdisciplinary team. Must have excellent communication skills for patient education and discharge planning. Description: The Registered Nurse will provide care for patients in a MedSurg/Telemetry setting. The facility has 637 licensed beds and is designated as a Level 1 Trauma Center. This role includes caring for patients undergoing various surgeries, including orthopedic and bariatric procedures. The patient population may include those with acute or chronic diseases and post-operative patients. The nurse will be responsible for managing medications, including non-titratable cardiac drips and insulin drips. Typical patient ratios are 1:4-6 for RNs and LPNs. CNA assistance is available for vital signs, glucose checks, and patient care tasks. The nurse will need proficiency in cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation. A strong focus on wound care and post-operative monitoring is essential. The role involves participation in discharge planning and patient education. The work environment is busy, and teamwork is emphasized. Nurses will work weekends, with expectations to cover major holidays. Floating may occur to other adult MedSurg/Telemetry units within the facility.
