Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 18 months Med/Tele RN experience License: Current RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: 18 months Med/Tele RN experience BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Description: We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse in the MedSurg/Tele specialty. The position involves working in a post-surgical care unit. The unit has 28 beds and cares for a variety of patient types. Common diagnoses include orthopedic surgery, spine surgery, trauma, vascular surgery, and medical overflow. Patient-to-nurse ratios are typically 1:4-6, with surge times potentially being 1:7-8. General post-surgical skills required include incision care, assessment, drain management, chest tube management, wound care, mobility assistance, education, trach care, NG tube insertion, and the use of braces/traction. Support within the department includes CNA support for phlebotomy, ADLs, and IV site management. Charge nurses are available for indirect support, and resources like RT and hospitalists are onsite 24/7. Remote telemetry monitoring is provided, and additional patient safety measures are in place. Travel nurses will be expected to float to other nursing units as needed. Adaptability and clinical flexibility are essential when floating to other units. Travel nurses may be required to float within the designated regional facilities. Weekend rotations are every other weekend, with holiday expectations being that travelers will work 75% of holidays. Traveler requests for time off can be approved up to 6 days, excluding holidays. Successful candidates will appreciate a positive and supportive unit culture.
