Unit Information:
o Beds: 26
Minimum Years of Experience required: 2 years MST
o Will you accept a first-time traveler: Yes, dependent on experience. Must have strong background in MS.
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o General Medicine - DM, GI, Resp, Renal, Wounds/Dressing Changes, chest tubes, trachs, lab draws required.
Patient Ratios:
o RN: 5-6:1
o CNA: 8-9:1
Required Licensure & Certifications:
o BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
Skills required:
o Ability to provide direct and indirect patient care, strong interpersonal communication skills, ability to work collaboratively, solid written and oral communication skills, ability to tolerate moderate to high stress levels, and experience reading telemetry strips
o Chest tubes, traches, PIV starts, drain & tubes, PCA pumps
o Gtt management – Amiodarone (occasionally), Fentanyl PCA, Ketamine PCA, Dilaudid PCA, Heparin
Support within the Department:
o CNA: Provides basic nursing care to assigned patients and assist RN where needed
o Receptionist/HUC
o Charge nurse – occasional in modified assignment
o Phlebotomy – for routine, RN responsible for STAT draws
o IV/VAT Team: No
o Rapid Response Team
o RT 24/7
o Hospitalist 24/7
o Intensivist 24/7
o Telemetry monitoring/tech: Centralized Telemetry, sign strips q shift
