The acute care facility includes a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and is a county designated trauma center. San Luis Obispo offers an exciting community atmosphere while being a short drive from serene beaches known for their natural hot springs and sand dunes. With a charming downtown, comfortable coastal weather, idyllic views, and an active lifestyle, this location offers much to be enjoyed. The RN assists surgeons and anesthesiologists and coordinates the flow of equipment, supplies, and staff during surgical procedures. They ensure patient safety throughout the perioperative phase of care. They also participate in patient care planning, assessment, and nursing treatment. This position is represented by a nursing association. Essential Functions: The RN is competent to circulate in the operating room during surgical procedures. They are knowledgeable of and consistently apply the principles of aseptic technique. They can safely operate all routine equipment utilized in the operating room. They prepare patients for surgery, including safe anatomical positioning. They perform pre-, intra-, and post-procedure patient care planning and assessment following established criteria. They handle and dispose of biohazardous materials safely. They access facility information systems to retrieve and utilize pertinent information for patient care or job-related responsibilities. They demonstrate knowledge and skills related to patient safety, emergency preparedness, and equipment safety. They document temperature of tissue/allografts, verify package integrity, and deliver to the sterile field per manufacturer guidelines. They efficiently use downtime for job-related or unit-specific work, including chart auditing, cleaning, and restocking. They perform other job-related duties as assigned.
