Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Nursing/Orthopedic Staff Duration: 8 weeks Shift: 7P-7A Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years required, 5 years preferred License: RN license required Certifications: CPR, BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, EKG required Must-Have: Travel Experience Required Description: Assesses and reassesses young adult, adult, and elderly patients. Applies the nursing process to ensure optimal patient care. Demonstrates basic competency in specialized procedures and equipment. Provides pre and post-operative care in various surgical disciplines. Manages pain effectively and performs chest tube care and insertion. Provides care for PEG, G-tube, and J-tube patients. Administers traction and manages various types of drainage care. Dispenses medication accurately. Applies the NIH Stroke Scale and performs KODA access. Handles central lines and specialized IV drips with titration. Administers IV therapy as needed. Conducts waived testing for IVADD. Oversees transfusion therapy as required. Maintains accurate nursing documentation. Evaluates patient outcomes and adjusts care processes accordingly. Provides individualized, age-specific care to support homeostatic regulation. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Maintains patient confidentiality. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients. Functions as a patient advocate. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan. Interacts professionally with patients and families in forming care plans. Reviews, updates, and resolves care plans daily. Formulates teaching plans based on identified learning needs. Evaluates the effectiveness of learning, including family involvement. Supervises healthcare staff involved in patient care. Monitors the work allocation of others. Assists physicians with procedures as necessary. Responds promptly to changes in workload to maintain productivity. Participates in the development and evaluation of performance improvement activities. Functions as a preceptor for new employees. Engages in professional development through educational programs and meetings. Maintains the operation of patient care equipment appropriately. Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and the proper functioning of equipment. Assists in cost containment through supply and equipment management. Demonstrates flexibility and organization under stress. Meets all departmental specific competencies. Performs housekeeping duties when needed. Assists with patient transportation as necessary. Adheres to dress code. Follows policies addressing infection control and safety. Performs other related duties as assigned. Serves as a team leader and role model for staff members.
