RN Med-Surg / Tele | Omaha, NE
We are currently seeking an experienced Med-Surg / Telemetry RN for a 12-hour night shift opportunity in Omaha, Nebraska. This is a fast-paced unit that cares for a wide variety of medical and orthopedic patients.
Location: Omaha, NE 68124
Shift: 12-Hour Nights (1830 – 0700)
Unit: Med Tele / Ortho – 4th Floor North & South
Beds: 55
⚕️ Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:5–6
Crisis Protocol Assignment
Required Certification:
• BLS
Preferred Certification:
• ACLS
Common Patient Diagnoses:
• Joint replacements & orthopedic trauma
• Fractures and colon resections
• COPD exacerbation
• Prostatectomy
• Cellulitis & sepsis
• GI bleeds
• Pneumonia
• Failure to thrive
Clinical Skills:
• Titration of Heparin, Lidocaine, and Ketamine drips
• PCA pump management
• Telemetry awareness (monitor techs interpret rhythms)
Unit Highlights:
• Charge nurse present on every shift
• CNA support (1:10–20 ratio)
• Mechanical lifts available in patient rooms
• High admission/discharge activity requiring strong time management
• Focus on teamwork, patient-centered care, and responsiveness
Scheduling Details:
• Shifts: 0630–1900 or 1830–0700
• Typically every other weekend
• 2–3 holidays required between Thanksgiving and New Year
• Limited block scheduling available
• 2 days of unit orientation
Important Requirements:
• 50-mile radius rule applies
• Open-book exam during orientation (90% required to pass)
• Travelers may float to other Med-Surg units as needed
