Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: LTC RN Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Required Certifications: BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Experience with elderly patients Description: Unit is a nursing home with 70 beds, primarily private rooms. The electronic medical record system used is ECS. Nurse to patient ratios are 1:20 for RNs and LPNs, and 1:8 for CNAs. Common diagnoses include dementia, frail elderly patients, and rehabilitation cases. Job duties involve charting, assessments, charge nurse duties, administering medications, and performing clinical skills such as IVs, catheters, and ostomy care. Experience with intravenous lines and titratable drips is necessary. No telemetry monitoring is done by RNs on this unit. RNs are not required to attend team conferences for acute inpatient rehabilitation. There is a director of nursing, charge nurse, and house supervisor available. Physician availability is present after hours. The interdisciplinary team consists of therapy, administration, social workers, activities, dietary, and housekeeping staff. Respiratory therapy is on-site 24/7. There is a pharmacy along with a medication dispensing system available on-site. The unit has a block schedule with varying shift assignments. Weekend requirements are every other weekend unless specified. Holiday requirements include availability for at least half of the holidays during the assignment. There are floating requirements among units. Dress code is solid color scrubs that are clean and professional. Unit-specific orientation varies based on skills needed. All clinicians must clock in and out while on duty.
