Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Long Term Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1-3 years previous RN experience License: Valid State RN license Must-Have: Education: Associates in Nursing Medical terminology preferred Strong teamwork and communication skills required The ability to work well within a team of other care providers Flexibility required to cover 24 hours a day, 7 days a week Flexibility to float to other units as needed Description: The RN and LPN partner with residents and other care providers to create a safe and comfortable therapeutic environment by providing direct and indirect care. This facility includes specialized units working with residents with Alzheimer's and dementia, tailoring care to meet their needs. Key aspects include the use of both verbal and non-verbal communication techniques. Understanding the difficult behaviors associated with residents that have Alzheimer's and dementia is crucial. These behaviors can be valid forms of communication. The facility provides necessary care to residents requiring long-term placement in a home-like environment. Additionally, a unit provides short-term skilled nursing and rehab services for patients recovering from various illnesses or injuries. Nursing services often include IV therapy, wound care, geriatric assessment, and management. The long-term care unit offers needed support to residents requiring long-term placement in a home-like environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.
