Key aspects of this role include the use of verbal and non-verbal communication techniques and understanding the behaviors associated with Alzheimer's and dementia. The position provides needed care to those requiring long-term placement in a home-like environment. Another unit provides short-term, skilled nursing and rehabilitation services for patients recovering from various conditions, including fractures and strokes. Nursing services include IV therapy, wound care, and geriatric assessment and management. A long-term care unit also provides necessary care for residents in need of long-term placement. An equivalent combination of education and experience that provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility may substitute for the above requirements.
