Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Long Term Acute Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 year(s) License: Active IL license required or confirmation that application process has been initiated. Certifications: BLS required, ACLS preferred (not required). Must-Have: Experience with PEG tube care/feedings, CVC/PICC/Midline usage and care, tracheostomy patients. Description: The unit consists of 10 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5. Common diagnoses include respiratory failure, post-surgical recovery, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-CVA care, post-trauma, and cardiac patients. RNs are required to titrate drips, including Heparin. A Charge Nurse is available on each shift to assist; however, they may also take an assignment. A House Supervisor is available 24/7. There are nurse aides/patient care techs on this unit with a ratio of 1:10 to assist with duties. Respiratory Therapy manages all respiratory equipment, while RNs must troubleshoot issues. Telemetry monitoring is performed by a dedicated Monitor Tech stationed in the ICU. RNs must read their own strips using housewide telemetry packs. RNs provide care for patients requiring respiratory support, including ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen. Scheduling includes 12-hour shifts from 7 AM to 7:30 PM. Weekend and holiday rotations are required. Qualified nurses may float to ICU or Acute Rehabilitation units as needed. Scrubs are provided, and only approved t-shirts are permitted in any color. Orientation includes classroom training and practical preceptorship on the unit. The charting system used is EPIC.
