Job Title: Registered Nurse I Profession: RN Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: Direct Hire Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Zero to six (0-6) months related experience License: Valid multi-state or state Registered Nurse License Certifications: N/A Must-Have: Strong preference for candidates with Labor & Delivery experience; candidates with 2+ years of hospital nursing experience in other acute care areas may be considered if they demonstrate a passion for maternal care. Description: The Registered Nurse I assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and unit policies and procedures. The purpose of monitoring and evaluating patient functional status is essential. Utilizes the nursing process to care for patients. Assesses, organizes, and completes patient care with consideration for patient age, cultural, and psychosocial factors. Documents steps of the nursing process. Utilizes proper medical terminology and addresses problems and progress toward goals. Facilitates patient discharge through timely, appropriate referrals and utilization of patient education resources suitable to patient age and cultural and psychosocial factors. Collaborates with other disciplines as appropriate. Supports unit and hospital goals through performance improvement and educational activities, evidenced by attending in-services, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports. Exercises independent judgment in decision-making from many diversified alternatives, subject to general review only in final stages. Coordinates activities of others without supervision. Leads others in the same work performed without supervision. Has input on performance evaluations but does not prepare or give them. Works directly with patients and customers. Engages with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction. Interacts with external customers via telephone or face-to-face communication. Collaborates with other healthcare professionals and staff. Frequently works with individuals at the Director level or above. Strong knowledge of general disease state management processes, bio-psychosocial model, and clinical pathways is preferred. Possesses effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively and efficiently is crucial. Detail orientation is required in the examination of clinical and numerical data. Completed the basic professional curricula of a school of nursing approved and verified by a state board of nursing; holds or is entitled to hold a diploma or degree from that program.
