We are seeking an experienced Assistant Nurse Manager (RN) Labor and Delivery to support clinical and operational leadership within a high-performing Labor and Delivery department. This position assists in planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating patient care services while providing leadership and support to nursing staff across assigned shifts.
The Assistant Nurse Manager works closely with department leadership to ensure exceptional patient outcomes, staff development, quality improvement initiatives, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Support daily clinical and operational management of the Labor and Delivery unit
Supervise and lead nursing staff during assigned shifts
Assist with staffing, scheduling, and workflow coordination
Promote quality patient care and patient safety initiatives
Participate in performance improvement and quality assurance activities
Support staff development, coaching, and mentoring
Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams
Assist with policy implementation and regulatory compliance
Provide leadership presence and operational oversight when department leadership is unavailable
Foster a positive, patient-centered culture of care
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required
Active California Registered Nurse (RN) License required
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a dedicated Labor and Delivery unit
Minimum 2 years of Charge Nurse experience within a Labor and Delivery department
Preferred Qualifications
Recent acute care hospital experience
Labor and Delivery leadership experience
Relief Charge Nurse experience
Leadership and team development experience
Shared Governance experience
Strong communication and collaboration skills
