Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: - Labor and Delivery RN experience of at least 3 years, with at least 1 year of recent experience - Postpartum experience License: - Current RN license in California Certifications: - AHA ACLS - AHA BLS - AWHONN Intermediate - NRPA Must-Have: - Ability to circulate C-sections - Ability to float to other facilities - Willingness to work every other weekend - Previous travel assignment experience - Completed references must be in hand at time of submission Description: Submit all time-off requests at the time of the offer. Requests sent after the contract is signed will not be considered. The patient population includes a mix of straightforward cases and high-acuity patients with various co-morbidities complicating their pregnancy. The unit accepts home birth transfers and patients without prenatal care. Staffing occurs per guidelines to maintain optimal care. RTO greater than 7 days in a row requires approval from management. The role involves administration of blood and blood products, amnioinfusion, and anticoagulation therapy. Skills required include assessing and assisting with high-risk deliveries and vaginal deliveries. Nurses are expected to provide breastfeeding support and discharge teaching to parents. Experience with newborn assessments and managing factors like postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension is necessary. Additional responsibilities may include fetal heart monitoring and the use of infusion pumps. All candidates must demonstrate proficiency with required charting systems and possess teaching hospital experience. Floating to different departments may occur based on resource allocation. This position requires commitment to ongoing education and competency in a variety of clinical skills.
