Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year required License: Current California State License as a Registered Nurse required Certifications: BLS upon hire and ongoing; NRP within 6 months of hire and ongoing; Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification within 6 months of hire and ongoing. Must-Have: Graduate of a School of Nursing One year of labor experience required or completed extended orientation period, meeting all expectations for no labor experience. Comfortable stabilizing newborns. Fetal monitoring certification. Description: The Registered Nurse delivers collaborative nursing care to a caseload of patients for an assigned shift. Care includes Antepartum, Intrapartum, and Postpartum patients and stable newborns. Stabilization for transport of sick neonates is also required. The position requires performing triage and providing comprehensive neonatal care. Interpersonal skills are necessary for instructing and comforting patients and families, as well as effective communication with healthcare team members. Analytical skills are needed to prioritize workload, prepare nursing care plans, implement effective nursing care, and develop solutions to problems concerning the patient's body, mind, and spirit. Basic computer knowledge is required, including familiarity with Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Word. Ability to learn applicable computer software programs for patient care and operations processes is essential. The RN is also accountable for appropriate utilization of care resources and demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships in problem resolution. This role includes exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. The RN must demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles over the lifespan and provide population-based care according to established standards.
