Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years License: Active Nursing License Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, Advanced Fetal Monitoring, COVID Vaccine Required Must-Have: C-section experience required; must be able to circulate for C-sections. Experience in both Labor and Delivery and Postpartum care is necessary. Travel experience is preferred. Description: The unit consists of 9 Labor and Delivery beds and 4 Postpartum beds. On average, there are 55 births per month. The unit follows AWOHNN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios. The fetal heart monitoring system utilized is Fetal Link. The electronic medical record system is Cerner. There is a Charge Nurse on duty who does not take a patient assignment. Nurse Aides/OB techs are available; one is assigned to day shift and one to night shift. Nurses are required to work every other weekend. There is no call requirement. Holidays will be managed in conjunction with the permanent staff rotation. Scrubs are provided by the hospital. Respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Pharmacy support is provided, but is not available 24/7, with alternative arrangements after hours. Staff work 12-hour shifts from 6 PM to 6 AM. Candidates must float between Labor and Delivery and Postpartum units. Common patient diagnoses include those 34 weeks and above and high-risk deliveries. Birth plans are significant and followed closely by the majority of the patient population. The hospital has a cancellation policy allowing for up to 4 shift cancellations during the assignment.
