Job Title: RN II-L&D (Mandatory Call) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Night Shift Auto Offer Hours per Shift: Not specified Experience: Two years of Labor & Delivery experience required License: Current RN license in state of practice required Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Course required Must-Have: Current Epic experience Description: The Labor and Delivery Nurse is responsible for planning and providing nursing care to patients and their families during the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum periods, including emergency situations and circulating for C-Sections. The nurse supervises and delegates care responsibilities to ancillary personnel commensurate with their scope of practice. Performs physical and psychosocial assessments of patients, demonstrating knowledge and consideration of age and cultural differences. Initiates a multidisciplinary, goal-oriented care plan for each patient in collaboration with members of the healthcare team and provides care based on that plan. Demonstrates appropriate clinical judgment in managing perinatal emergencies including but not limited to crash C-sections, precipitous delivery, and shoulder dystocia. Is competent to assess fetal and maternal well-being, assess amniotic fluid status, assess vaginal bleeding, and recognize and manage abnormalities during labor and delivery. Effectively manages pain control in the laboring patient and supports and implements alternative pain control when appropriate. Is competent to assist with epidural catheter placement and monitor fetal and maternal status during catheter placement and after medication administration. Educates patients and families in all stages of the perinatal and postpartum period and utilizes methods appropriate to age, condition, culture, and learning readiness. Completes legible, accurate, and timely documentation of all nursing care provided, including evaluation of patients' responses to medications, treatments, and procedures. Consistently performs necessary unit-specific safety and quality control checks. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
