Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Obstetrics Duration: 8 Weeks Shift: 7 AM - 7 PM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years in Labor & Delivery License: Current Registered Nurse License Certifications: BLS ACLS NRP Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring STABLE (must complete within 30 days of start) Must-Have: Experience with all phases of Labor and Postpartum care Experience with care of well babies Description: An immediate start is needed. The facility has a Level III Nursery with 200 births per year. The unit consists of 4 Labor beds and 4 Postpartum beds. Travelers should be comfortable with low-risk labor and care of well babies. High-risk patients are transferred out for labor and delivery. The facility operates with an LDRP model, meaning patients stay on the unit for Antepartum, Intrapartum, and Postpartum care. Experience in handling post-partum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia, HELLP syndrome, bilirubin babies, NAS babies, and feeders/growers is required. Low acuity patients may be present for IV antibiotics or rehab. There are no infectious patients or telemetry monitoring. Average patient ratios are 1:2-3 for Med/Surg patients. The unit averages 200 deliveries per year. Nurses will implement a rooming-in model with no dedicated nursery. The patient-to-nurse ratios are based on AWHONN guidelines: 1:2 for Laboring 1:1 for Active Labor 1:3-4 for Couplets 1:2-3 for Med Surg The unit is staffed with at least 2 nurses overnight and 3 nurses during busier times. There are no CNAs present. A health unit coordinator is available 4 days per week. Midwives will perform most of the patient care, with OBs available if needed. Charge nurses and phlebotomy services are also available, alongside 24/7 hospitalist services. Charting is conducted using an EMR system. If floating occurs, it will only be to task in Med/Surg or Emergency Department with no patient assignments taken. Weekend rotations are every other weekend. There is no on-call requirement and holiday expectations are every other holiday. Time off must be approved by management. Scrub colors should be professional; procedural scrubs are provided for the OR only. Free parking is available.
