Description:
Immediate need for a Registered Nurse in the Labor and Delivery Unit.
Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery.
First-time travelers will not be considered.
The facility averages 1800 deliveries per year, performing approximately 4 scheduled events daily such as c-sections and versions.
Patient ratios include 1:1 for cervical ripening and active labor, and 3 for couplet/postpartum/antepartum care.
Minimum staffing goal is 6 Registered Nurses during day and night shifts, possibly 5 in case of call-outs.
Required skills include titration of Pitocin, fetal scalp electrodes, cervical exams, and assistance with epidural placement.
Management of insulin and magnesium drips, along with neonatal resuscitation, is expected.
All documentation for newborns under continuous surveillance is the responsibility of the labor nurse.
Support structure includes unit secretaries and a charge nurse available 24/7.
The use of fetal monitoring and electronic medical records is required.
Flextime may allow floating to Mother-Baby but primarily Antepartum and Postpartum responsibilities.
Weekend rotation involves working at least 4 out of 8 scheduled shifts.
Holiday shifts are on a rotational basis.
