Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Labor and Delivery Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years in Labor and Delivery License: RN Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, Intermediate or Advanced FHM, MOABCST Must-Have: Experience with cervical exams, fetal scalp electrodes, and titrating Pitocin Ability to assist with epidural placement and management of insulin and magnesium drips Experience with neonatal resuscitation and lactation support Experience in a charge nurse role Description: This position requires an experienced registered nurse in the Labor and Delivery specialty. The nurse will work on a night shift from 7 PM to 7 AM. The unit handles an average of 1800 deliveries per year. Daily operations will involve managing both scheduled procedures and laboring patients. Patient care includes assessments for a variety of conditions, such as preeclampsia and gestational diabetes. The nurse will be responsible for administering medications and monitoring maternal and fetal well-being according to protocols. A collaborative environment includes support from other healthcare professionals, such as anesthesia and mid-level providers. The nurse may need to provide care in both Labor and Delivery and Mother-Baby units. A focus on safety and quality care is essential, with adherence to protocols for newborn care and skin-to-skin practices. This position requires flexibility, including participation in weekend and holiday rotations. Supporting patient comfort and education during labor and postpartum is a key responsibility.
