Job Overview: Travel RN – Birthing Center / Mother-Baby

Location: Silverdale Washington (WA) State

Experience Level: Minimum 2 years of experience required (Will consider 1 year of experience ONLY if the candidate has multiple prior travel assignments).

Restrictions:NO FIRST-TIME TRAVELERS.

Submission Requirements
  • References: 2 years of references must be submitted simultaneously with the initial submittal email.

Unit Overview & Ratios
  • Unit: Combined Birthing Center / Mother-Baby / Postpartum (all one unit).

  • Unit Capacity: 34 total beds (includes 14 Postpartum beds, 2 Triage beds, and 2 dedicated C-section OR suites).

  • Volume: High-volume facility averaging 150–180 births per month (~2,133 annual deliveries).

  • Staffing Ratios: Follows AWHONN guidelines (1:2 for L&D; 1:3–4 for couplets).

  • Support Staff: Free-floating Charge Nurse on both shifts. One 24/7 Surgical Tech on unit. One Patient Care Assistant (with clerical duties) per shift.

  • In-House Providers: 24/7 OBGYN/Hospitalist, 24/7 Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP) in Nursery, and 24/7 dedicated OB Anesthesia provider. Respiratory Therapist (RT) typically assigned to Family Birth.

Clinical Requirements & Skillset
  • Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP.

  • Preferred Certifications: Intermediate or Advanced FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring).

  • Core Competencies:

    • Must have LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum) experience.

    • Must be comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sections.

    • Must be comfortable assisting with catching and transitioning babies.

  • Patient Population: 33 weeks gestation and above. High-risk patients, Preeclampsia, Diabetes, Psych/Social issues, and substance use.

  • Drip Titration: Required to titrate drips. Common drips include Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin.

  • EFM System: Centricity-perinatal.

  • Charting System: EPIC.
