The RN utilizes various nursing theories and professional practice models to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for all patients assigned. They make determinations regarding patient progress towards goals. The RN forms therapeutic professional relationships with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to promote and restore health. Care is tailored to the specific physiological, developmental, and psychosocial needs of each patient. The RN supports the organization's mission, vision, values, and expectations of excellence. Competence in this role is demonstrated through consistent application of scientific knowledge in nursing practices. The RN provides care that aligns with the interdisciplinary plan and is grounded in principles of Relationship-Based Care. They continuously assess the patient's physical and psychosocial condition and formulate nursing diagnoses based on observations and information obtained. In collaboration with the client, the RN formulates a care plan to ensure safety, comfort, hygiene, and disease prevention. Essential nursing skills are performed, and health treatments are explained to the client and family. Education on how to manage health needs is provided to patients and their families. The effectiveness of care plans is evaluated, and modifications are made as needed based on client observations and communication. The RN demonstrates a working knowledge of equipment, instrumentation, and medications, ensuring safe use. Tasks are delegated to team members in line with their legal scopes of practice, with effective supervision of nursing care provided by the team. The RN acts as a client advocate when necessary, initiating actions to improve healthcare or change decisions against the client's interests. Culturally competent, age-appropriate, and ethical care is provided within legal standards of practice. Coordination of patient care activities is facilitated between nurses, physicians, allied health professionals, and ancillary team members. Effective communication skills are utilized to complete safe patient handoffs. Documentation of nursing care adheres to hospital policies. The RN utilizes manual and automated information systems to enhance efficiency and productivity. Accountability for patient satisfaction is emphasized, striving to meet or exceed unit and organizational goals. Contributions to positive patient care experiences are made through individual interactions with patients and families. The RN assists in resolving complaints with an immediate resolution goal, investigates complaints, and provides information as required. Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.
