The Registered Nurse focuses on safe, effective patient and family-centered care, customer satisfaction, and quality outcomes. The RN is responsible for assisting in maintaining a financially stable unit. The RN promotes personal development with an emphasis on evidence-based practice and education. The RN supervises licensed and non-licensed staff members. The RN has the responsibility to assess, develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care. The RN focuses on patient and family comfort, education, and satisfaction. The RN applies educational and professional experiences in the delivery of quality care. The RN mentors and precepts staff. The RN performs assessments and reassessments per policy and procedure or as warranted by patient condition. The RN demonstrates the ability to make sound independent decisions. The RN initiates, prioritizes, and implements the plan of care. The RN collaborates with the patient and family, as well as interdisciplinary services. The RN utilizes resources appropriately to support the needs of the organization and patients. The RN monitors and documents response to clinical interventions. The RN facilitates, coordinates, provides, and evaluates education specific to patient and family needs. The RN delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel. The RN functions as a mentor and preceptor. The RN demonstrates teamwork and communication skills. The RN participates in quality, safety, and service process improvement efforts. The RN complies with regulatory standards and participates in the governance model. The RN recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care. The RN assesses and anticipates discharge needs of individual patients and families. The RN develops relationships with families that promote their ability to advocate for the patient. The RN collaborates with the patient and family to prepare or update the plan of care. The RN identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic issues in planning patient care. The RN demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks for patients with complex problems. The RN reads journals that contain studies or articles that may be applicable to practice. The RN brings ideas and questions to the staff for assessment of applicability.
