To apply professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. Perform patient assessments reflecting physical, psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual, cognitive needs, and functional abilities through the systematic collection and review of patient-specific data and communicate assessments appropriately. Act as a patient advocate. Plan and prioritize care based on the assessment, evaluate patient progress, and revise care to attain expected outcomes. Include patient/family in planning care and evaluating programs and outcomes. Demonstrate clinical competencies in the specific area of practice as described in departmental performance standards. Assess patient/family learning needs, plan and provide education (involve other disciplines as needed), and evaluate the effectiveness of teaching in achieving desired outcomes. Identify and respond appropriately to ethical issues in patient care. Provide nursing care in a non-judgmental manner that respects patient diversity and acknowledges patient rights. Serve as a resource to others in addressing ethical dilemmas in patient care. Initiate collaborative dialogue with physicians and coordinate multidisciplinary activities to plan, deliver, and evaluate patient care. Perform scrub for Obstetric OR procedures. Provide nursing care in a non-judgmental manner that respects patient diversity and acknowledges patient rights and identifies resources to meet unique patient needs. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, core measures, patient safety, and quality initiatives to achieve optimal clinical and organizational outcomes. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required. This position requires the ability to circulate in an Operating Room and the ability to scrub is preferred. Practicing at the highest end of the Labor Nurse scope is essential. Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
