Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 13 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Registered Nurse Certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring Must-Have: Labor and Delivery experience required, postpartum experience preferred. Description: The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of direct patient care to a designated group of patients within the Client Child Health department. This position will work collaboratively with leadership to follow the scope of practice for nursing governing bodies that apply to Client Child Health. Responsibilities will include observation, data collection, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the patient's physical, psychological, emotional, educational, and spiritual needs. The RN assesses patients and families, whose needs range from uncomplicated to highly complex. Quick recognition of normal parameters, deviations, and abnormalities in physical, emotional, developmental, and behavioral status is essential. A person-centered care approach is used in the development of care plans and in prioritizing nursing care to meet patient and family needs. The RN plans for the care of patients, demonstrating effective prioritization of both expected and unanticipated needs. Patients and families are involved in establishing care goals. Critical thinking skills are demonstrated by making appropriate clinical decisions, prioritizing both planned and unplanned events, and proactively addressing potential and actual problems. Competence in the implementation of the technical skills required for the care of patients and families must be demonstrated. Initiative in remaining current on policies, procedures, and standards is expected. The RN acts as a resource to peers. Interventions for the attainment of care goals reflect resourceful involvement of health team members. Facilitating the linking of patients and families with other disciplines and services as needed is required. Floating to other departments is expected on a rotational basis and includes Labor and Delivery, OR/PACU, Postpartum, and NICU. Scheduling is done based on unit needs. There is no weekend maximum, and block scheduling is not guaranteed but considered if requested.
