Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 26 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery License: NC or Compact license pending acceptable for submittal Certifications: BLS, AWHONN, NRP Must-Have: Traveler Experience: Required Skills: LDRP, Mother/Baby care Assist with sterile speculum exam inclusive of effacement, dilation, station, and presentation Use of External Fetal Heart Monitoring Use of External and Internal Fetal Monitoring Recognition and Treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns Breastfeeding Support/Lactation support Circulating for cesarean sections Description: This position is for a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse. The nurse will provide care in a Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum unit. Ratios will be 1:4, with couplet care for mothers and babies. Nurses are required to float and assist in other units as needed. The schedule consists of three 12-hour night shifts from 18:45 to 07:15. Call requirements include two mandatory shifts every six weeks. Every other weekend commitment is necessary. The unit experiences approximately 800 births per year. Preferred skills include EPIC charting system experience. Daily census in the unit averages eight patients. The position may require assisting with special procedures including but not limited to labor induction and postpartum protocols. Interdisciplinary collaboration and patient education are essential. Nurses should be knowledgeable in managing high-risk deliveries.
